Factors such as the number of followers, likes, and engagement rate* determine who makes it onto the list. The research is conducted every six months, and this list showcases the best-performing brands on TikTok throughout 2023
The Ocean Cleanup makes waves on TikTok
With an overwhelming presence on TikTok, The Ocean Cleanup has claimed the number one position in the TikTok Top 50, further amplifying their impact on the social media scene. Their engaged community demonstrates the appreciation for the brand’s sustainable character and core message. With an impressive 2.1 million followers, The Ocean Cleanup has experienced a growth of 62% since the beginning of the year (1.3 million followers).
Sprinter Sports Sprints to the Top
Sprinter Sports, formerly known as Aktiesport, has made an impressive leap in the TikTok Top 50. From 12th position in 2022 to number 2! What truly distinguishes Sprinter Sports is their engagement rate. In just one year, they have skyrocketed from 4.6% to an impressive 28%. This not only signifies the tremendous growth of their account but also the powerful connection with the TikTok community. Tasty Achievement by IJssalon Borger
Despite a slight shift from 2nd to 3rd spot in the TikTok Top 50, IJssalon Borger has showcased impressive growth: from 116,600 followers in 2022 to 128,000 in 2023, marking a 9% increase. A sweet victory for IJssalon Borger! It proves that a relatively small brand can also capture hearts on TikTok!
Notable TikTok Moves
Some dynamic shifts in the TikTok Top 50 this year! JustDiggit makes its debut on the list at 13th place, a commendable achievement with an engagement rate of 20%. HEMA steals the show by rising 16 places, from 21st to 5th place. The brand’s popularity on the platform has surged, thanks in part to Slayma. Research Explanation
This independent research adheres to strict criteria for the selection of brand accounts in the TikTok Top 50. For reliable engagement rates, only accounts with a minimum of 1,000 followers are considered on TikTok. Excluded are (news) platforms, broadcasters, programs, agencies, and sports clubs. TikTok accounts must have uploaded videos in 2022.
*Engagement Rate is the percentage of the audience that interacts with the content posted by the brand. Calculation: the number of likes and comments divided by the number of followers and the number of posts for the given period.
