Redbull; best performing brand in Belgian TikTok Top 25

Somention has again researched the most successful Belgian brands on TikTok, resulting in the Q3 TikTok Top 25. In this article, we explain how brands used seasonal trends and celebrities in their videos and why that helped increase their engagement. Which brands scored best in the last quarter and what did they do in particular to be so successful? Read on to find out!

The research

The TikTok Top 25 is compiled based on independent research by social media agency Somention. The most successful Belgian and international brands with a Belgian account on TikTok were assessed. The accounts are evaluated based on the number of followers and the engagement rate*, where interaction weighs the heaviest. Every quarter, the brands that scored best on average on these aspects are listed in the TikTok Top 25. At the end of the year, the list of the most successful brands on TikTok for the entire year of 2022 will be announced. The list for Q3 is presented later in this article.

Recaps, seasonal trends and celebs

In third place this quarter is Tomorrowland. Its TikTok followers grew by a remarkable number of nearly 420K over the past 90 days, which is likely due to its summer edition in July. To keep visitors and fans engaged well after the end of last edition of the festival, the organisation posts recaps, aftermovies and povs. They also release a small amount of details about the upcoming winter edition every week. Fan excitement translates into this stunning third place for Tomorrowland in the TikTok Top 25!

Moving on to the runner-up: Plopsa. This amusement park shows that it responds well to seasonal trends. Some good examples can be found in their posts about the upcoming Halloween Scare Nights, which all have high engagement rates. The company that secured first place in the Q3 list is Redbull Belgium! Much of their content is about the sponsored teams of the Tour de France and Formula 1. Great names like Max Verstappen and Wout van Eart are often mentioned in their videos, which seems to really capture the attention of their TikTok community.

Power of frequency

The TikTok Top 25 of the third quarter features some new entrants. One brand in particular should be highlighted: Lovelykoordjes (12), which climbed 20 spots in the list. Their following grew by over 12% in the third quarter, whereas accounts of a similar size had a growth rate of -0.66% over this period. The company has a very high posting frequency, with an average of 8 posts per week. This again emphasises how important consistency is. Check out the entire Top 25 below.

Explanation of study

In this independent research, a number of factors were taken into consideration when selecting the brand accounts. To obtain a reliable engagement rate, only accounts with more than 1,000 followers were included. It is also essential that an account has uploaded videos in Q3 of 2022. Excluded are (news) platforms, broadcasters, programmes, agencies and sports clubs.

*Engagement rate is the number of likes, comments, and shares divided by the number of views, multiplied by 100%.
