07 Jul Belgian festival success in the Instagram Top 100
Looking for inspiring Belgian accounts on Instagram or curious about how your brand is doing on the platform? Since this year, you can find out on the Belgian Instagram Top 100, which is published quarterly. Sounds interesting? Then read on quickly to find out which popular brands made the list this quarter!
The Instagram Top 100 is compiled based on independent research by social media agency Somention. The most successful Belgian and international brands with a Belgian account on Instagram are rated based on the number of followers, likes, comments and engagement rate*. Every quarter, the brands that score best on average on all these points appear in the Instagram Top 100. At the end of the year, the list of the most successful brands on Instagram over the entire year of 2022 will be announced. The complete list for Q2 can be found later in this article.
Festival season
If we take a look back at the list of Q1, one thing immediately stands out. The festival take-over continues! We open the second quarter with the Graspop Metal Meeting again as number 1 in the Top 100. After all, the Belgian metal festival had their 25th anniversary event in June, which was well attended by metal fans. Number 2 goes to the best voted zoo in Europe, Pairi Daiza. It is a zoological, botanical and architectural garden, on whose page you will find absolutely amusing and beautiful content of animals and nature. What’s not to like? And the 3rd place goes to the Belgian Walibi amusement park again. It appears that their posts about their exciting attractions and thrills are doing very well on their Instagram page.
Well, that trio knows how to stay on top for a while! This proves that they are consistent and that they know how to engage with their followers. What about the other brands? We can reveal that there are a number of newcomers in the list! Including another popular Belgian music festival Couleur Café Festival, but also KBC Bank & Insurance, Kruidvat Belgium and more. Explanation of study
In this independent research, a number of things were taken into account when selecting the brand accounts. To obtain a reliable engagement rate, only accounts with more than 5,000 followers were included. Excluded are (news) platforms, broadcasters, programmes, agencies and sports clubs. In addition, accounts with an 18+ setting (such as those of some alcoholic beverages and lotteries) are excluded due to Instagram’s settings.
*Engagement rate is calculated as follows: the number of comments and likes per post divided by the number of followers.
